Reward people for the work of others
In traditional goal-setting, weโre often striving for goals that can be completely executed by the person or team responsible. This allows for complete autonomy and it decreases the risk that one person or a complete team is blocked by something or someone they are waiting on.
While this sounds quite logical, from a perspective of cross-team work and relationships between people, setting goals with dependencies actually might make a lot of sense.
It is a delicate decision to make, but definitely one to experiment with. It can make teams work a lot closer together to build in (smaller) links between individuals in their personal or team goals.
