Great teams know their teammates and fully trust each others abilities and skills. Two big ways to grow trust:
- Making small commitments and fulfilling them
- Being honest
The first one works, because in a relationship the other person learns that you are sticking to your word. If you promise me to take a look at something later and you actually deliver, I know I can ask a bigger thing next time and I don’t have to check it anymore.
If you are honest about yourself and about your feelings towards the team, they’ll know that you are fully transparent. You might think that it is possible to hide things without them knowing, but this either fails because they notice something’s off, or it will come out in the future and with that all trust goes out the window.
