Boundaries are an important aspect which can really build a team. Yesterday we looked at roles, which are basically internal boundaries.
External boundaries might be just as important. It might feel a little like “we don’t want to deal with X”, but just like internal roles, it helps within organizations to clearly know which things belong to which teams. It can also be a huge asset in detecting which teams are overloaded with work.
If you want a more motivated and organized team, list the responsibilities and define which of them are the things you as a team take 100% percent ownership over. For the other things, try to come up with a solution together with the rest of the organization.
